Orchid (Orchidaceae) is a popular plant species known for its elegant flowers and captivating appearance. In particular, Phalaenopsis (moth orchid) is one of the most commonly cultivated orchid types in homes. With proper care, it can continue to bloom for many years.

Light: They prefer bright but indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. A north- or east-facing window is ideal. If they receive insufficient light, the leaves turn dark green; with excessive light, they may take on a yellowish tint. Watering: Watering should be done according to the condition of the roots. If the roots are gray, it's time to water. Overwatering leads to root rot. Watering once a week (more often in summer) is generally sufficient. Water should be at room temperature and free of chlorine. After watering, make sure no water accumulates under the pot. Humidity: Orchids enjoy humid environments. A humidity level of 50-70% is ideal. You can mist the leaves occasionally to provide humidity, but be careful not to let water touch the flowers. Soil and Pot: Use special orchid mixes (containing bark, sphagnum moss, or coconut fiber). The soil should be well aerated and drain excess water quickly. Transparent pots are ideal for observing aerial roots. They also allow light to reach the roots, supporting photosynthesis. Fertilizing: During the growing season (spring-summer), use a liquid orchid fertilizer every 2-3 weeks. You can reduce fertilization during the flowering period.
